(Des Moines, IA) — The Polk County Attorney’s Office is dismissing a non-felonious misconduct in office charge against a Des Moines police officer. Altoona police arrested Officer Rodney Briggs in February for attempting to persuade employees of the Southeast Polk School District to provide him with video evidence involving his girlfriend. Briggs failed to notify school staff that he was making the request as a citizen, not a law enforcement officer. The Des Moines Police Department says Briggs will be returning to his regular duty assignment and the internal investigation is ongoing.
