(Des Moines) According to AAA, gas prices fell slightly this week.
As of Wednesday, March 24, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.80 across Iowa. That’s one penny lower than last week’s price and 90-cents higher than one year ago. The national average on Wednesday was $2.87.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell 2 cents this week with a statewide average of $3.11. One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.43 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is 1 cent more than the national average of $3.10.
Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $1.80. The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.83 for U87-E10, $2.05 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $1.89 for ULSD#2, $2.04 for ULSD#1, and $1.92 per gallon for E-70 prices.
The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.66 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $59.73.Brent crude oil fell $5.12 and is currently priced at $62.73. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $24.01, and Brent crude was at $24.50.
Propane prices fell 9 cents with a statewide average of $1.55 per gallon. Home heating oil fell 9 cents from last week, ending with a statewide average of $2.57 per gallon. Natural gas prices held steady at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $2.54/MMBtu.
