(Atlantic)Three players scored in double-figures to lead St. Albert past Atlantic 71-53 in a Hawkeye Ten Conference girls’ basketball game at Atlantic on Friday night.
Allie Petry led the way with 23-points, Makenna Shepard 19, and Pearl Reisz added 14 for the Saintes. Haley Rasmussen led the Trojans with 17, Maycie Waters, 12, and Jada Jensen scored 10 points.
St. Albert came out firing the first quarter with 24-points. The visitors knocked down three shots from behind the three-point line. Pearl Reisz hit two of the long-range shots, and Makenna Shepard netted one. Lauren Williams was also a key factor with eight points. The Trojans scored 17-first quarter points. Haley Rasmussen led the way with 7 points, and 6’ senior post-Tessa Grooms came off the bench and knocked 8-points inside the paint.
The Saintes opened up a 52-39 lead after three quarters. Sheppard led the charge with two-three point baskets, and Pearl Reisz chipped in one. Petry and Reisz led the way in the final frame with 8 and four points.
Williams finished with 9 points, Allison Narmie, 4, and Missy Evezic, chipped in 2 to supplement the scoring for St. Albert.
Tessa Grooms scored 9, Lauren Nicholas 3, and Taylor McCreedy added 2-points for Atlantic.
The Trojans travel to Norwalk on Saturday. St. Albert plays at home against Council Bluffs, Abraham, Lincoln.
