(Atlantic) Atlantic and Clarinda square off in a boys’ basketball game at Atlantic tonight. The Trojans enter the contest with a (3-4) overall record and (2-1) in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The Cardinals are (6-5) and (2-5) in the Conference.
The Trojans are 21-2 against the Cardinals dating back to 2008, including 17 straight wins. However, this is a Clarinda team that has been competitive in every game. The Cardinal’s five conference losses have all been close, including a four-point overtime loss to Glenwood, fell short by three against Harlan, and a two-point loss to Lewis Central.
Atlantic Head Coach Jeff Ebling says Clarinda is a solid team.
Drew Brown leads Clarinda averaging 16-points per game, Michael Shull, nine, and 6’5 post, junior Grant Jobe averages eight points per outing.
The Trojans enter the contest on the heels of a 65-58 win over Kuemper last Friday night. Three players scored in double figures. Grant Sturm led the way with 18 points, Skyler Handlos, 16, and Dayton Templeton added 14 points for the Trojans.
The girl’s game tips off at 6:00 p.m., with the boy’s game to follow. We will have both games on 95.7 FM.
