(AHSTW) AHSTW is ranked #4 in Class 2A and they showed why on Tuesday night in Avoca. The Vikings were eager to bounce back from their first loss of the season on Friday at Tri-Center and they responded well with an 85-51 win over Audubon.
Four players finished in double figures for 11-1 AHSTW, which led 21-11 at the end of the first, 51-22 at half, and 77-34 after three quarters. They improved to 11-1 on the season.
The Wheelers were down two starters going into the game and suited just seven players for the contest. They fall to 3-8.
AHSTW turned a ten point lead into a 27 point cushion in the blink of an eye. The team’s defense and transition game were tuned up and they quickly separated themselves from their opponents.
Kyle Sternberg went for 24 points, Brayden Lund 20, Raydden Grobe 19, and Cole Scheffler 10. Grobe put down a pair of dunks in the second half before starters gave way to the reserves for the entire fourth quarter.
AHSTW coach GG Harris on his team taking off in the first half, “We settled in. It was both sides of the ball, but it really really starts on the defensive end. We tried to really mix up our defenses tonight.”
Audubon got 21 points from Carson Bauer despite being limited by foul trouble in the first half. Collin Bauer scored nine for Audubon.
