(Guthrie Center) The ACGC boys have a 4-2 record at the holiday break and have averaged 73.8 points per game in those four victories. Their lone losses are to DM Christian and Panorama.
Charger head coach Lance Kading admits he’s been pleased with the progress his team has made. “Yeah, I really have. In two of our five wins all of our starters scored in double figures. We’ve been playing real well offensively. It’s been pretty consistent. Lucas (Marsh) has been consistently averaging a double-double. The younger guys are filling in. Defense still needs to get better, but we are working on it.”
Despite graduating two of the program’s all-time leading scorers in Bryce Littler and Quynton Younker the team hasn’t skipped a beat. “Eli (Kading) and Lucas this year as seniors are another year older and more mature and stronger. They are able to step in and replace some of that production. Usually you can have some guys step in, but it’s a matter having some younger guys fill in and I feel like we are fairly deep.”
The team looks to be competitive every night out when they resume play in January. “Every game on our schedule is one that we can win. Our defense is going to have to get better. We’ll work on that over break and see where we end up. I like this team. I like our competitiveness and am looking forward to getting back on the court.”
Eli Kading is the team’s leading scorer at 19.7 points per game. He’s shooting 53.8% from 3-point range and also averages 9.3 rebounds per night. Ben Marsh, Charlie Crawford, Lucas Marsh, and Miles Kading all average between 10 and 12 points per game. Crawford is shooting 57.4% from the field. Lucas Marsh is the leading rebound at 11.2 boards per contest.
