Morningside senior center Trey Brown (Gretna, Neb.) and junior forward Sophia Peppers (Exira, Iowa) picked up honors from the Great Plains Athletic Conference for the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6.
Brown had a massive week in the post for the Mustangs’ men’s team who extended their win streak to six. He hit double-doubles in both games in the first half en route to his third and fourth overall double-doubles in the last six outings. Brown also ran a personal double-digit scoring streak to 12 straight games, too, as part of a span in which he averaged 20.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, four assists, a blocked shot and a half and a half-a-steal per contest. His 19 rebounds against Dordt University Dec. 2 were a personal single-game best, most boards in a game for the program since 2009 and tied for the fourth-most in a game in school history.
Peppers averaged 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, a blocked shot and a half, and two steals per contest in a well-rounded week that enabled Morningside to run their win streak to five. Her back-to-back 20-point-plus efforts ran a personal string of such outings to three. Peppers was pivotal down the stretch in a win over Dordt Dec. 2, as she hit four straight free throw attempts and tallied eight points in the final seven minutes.
