(Audubon) A portion of the Audubon Fire and Rescue Association’s Annual Pancake Breakfast is going virtual.
In addition to the pancakes, sausage, and scrambled eggs another part of the Audubon Fire Department’s fundraiser in the past has been an opportunity to see the trucks and equipment. While this year’s breakfast will be a drive through and delivery only, they’ve gotten creative on how people can see the equipment. Andy Griffith says, “They can log on to the Audubon Fire and Rescue Facebook page and we are giving virtual tours of the station itself and talking about each truck and the functionality of it as well.”
Griffith says videos have been released throughout the week leading up to Sunday’s fundraiser. Giving the public a chance to see what they have is a tradition they didn’t want to let go. “We thought it’d be a way to keep the public being able to see this stuff. It was usually a day we were able to showcase the equipment and not being able to do that this time around we thought maybe these videos would be a good way to keep carrying on.”
Serving for the annual breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m. Sunday. The department is getting ready to construct a new station. Before anything goes up, the old Landus building must come down. They hope to have demolition completed by the fall. Click here to view the tours.
