(Corning) The Corning School Board approved the 2020-2021 Budget following a public hearing Monday.
Superintendent Chris Fenster…
The Board also approved the Pandemic Response and Emergency Suspension of Policy.
Fenster said they continue to pay their staff; however employees of the Early Childhood Education Center have been furloughed. The Early Childhood Education Center, which opened in January, was closed down when the schools initially closed for the pandemic. Fenster said even though the individuals that work at that facility will be furloughed, that does not mean they will be terminated. He said they’re going to be able to collect unemployment benefits until they are brought back online.
Meanwhile, Fenster said no matter what Governor Reynolds decides this week as far as extending the school closure they’re going to continue to keep the kids engaged as much as possible up until May 21st when they plan to dismiss from school.
In other action, the Board approved the Classified Staff Contracts for 2020-2021 and a number of resolutions related the refinancing of the SAVE and GO bonds.
The Board also approved the resignations of Josh Sussman – High School Social Studies Teacher; Marie Sussman – Art Teacher; and two Para Educators.
