(Red Oak) Red Oak City Administrator Brad Wright met recently with the Iowa Department of Transportation Officials to review plans to improve and resurface Highway 34 through Red Oak.
The section of the highway involved in the plan spans from the East Nishnabotna River to the new and old Highway 34 intersection. Wright says the project could be split into a two-year project with the start date no earlier than 2024.
Wright also reported progress made on the $2.5 million Red Oak swimming pool renovation project. He says a cement pour was completed last Thursday, and the walls are up on the surge tank and some of the towers for the slide structure. The project includes; tearing out the north one-third of the pool and converting it to a zero-depth entry with the toys and a fountain, a large slide, and other amenities youths expect in an aquatic facility. The project is slated to be finished prior to this summer’s swimming season.
The Council will meet again on Tuesday, February 18.
