(Red Oak) All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads, according to the charity organization, “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”. This 501 (c)3 non-profit organization is made up of a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.
Jake Johnson Page County Chapter President said having a good place to sleep at night impacts every aspect of a child’s life.
“Just having that space to call their own is really important,” said Johnson. “A good night’s sleep is very important physiologically, for school, social and home life in general.”
Johnson says so many great charities provide clothing, meals, and toys to families in need. But as wonderful as this aid is, few organizations offer suitable beds and bedding to the kids in these families. Johnson says in many situations children are sleeping on couches, sharing a bed with a sibling or parent, and many times children are sleeping on an air mattress on the floor.
The Chapter is holding a bed build on February 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Red Oak Mini Barns on Highway 48 just south of Red Oak. The organization and volunteers plan to build 40-beds. The beds will then be delivered to families in Montgomery, Fremont, Mills and Page Counties.
